The DPA Studio is our showroom and demo lounge and the R&D Department uses it as a test center for microphones and other pro audio gear.
The studio is also used for educational purposes and quite a few artists have visited. Some have even used the facilities to record their music for future publishing but first and last the studio is our demo and test center. This is where we do our research in surround sound and experiment with configurations and mics. And this is where guests and clients realize the difference between a good and a truly great reproduction.
Equipment
We will not compromise on quality in neither our own mics nor the equipment we use. Our gear is state of the art; the latest acquisition is a Merging Pyramix Virtual Studio that enables us to record and edit audio in Digital eXtreme Definition (DXD). The Pyramix system works at an impressive 24-bit / 352.8 kHz, and we have added two supplementary DAD AX24 to the pool. It is an excellent match to the clarity and dynamic range of DPA mics.
It is no coincidence that DPA microphones were used for the first ever recording in DXD. Because of their transparence and precision they are the obvious choice and DXD is the format that can do them justice.
