DPA Microphones at IBC 2009

DPA Microphones has unveiled a number of exciting innovations at this year’s IBC exhibition
DPA 4017-R Shotgun Microphone with Rycote WindshieldMaking its trade show debut is the DPA 4017-R Shotgun Microphone with Rycote Windshield, created in conjunction with Rycote. The new strong suspension and windshield solution has been designed specifically to take the DPA 4017 shotgun mic’s compact size and light weight into consideration. It consists of the 4017 shotgun mic with XLR cable and DPA windscreen; the distinctive Rycote Windshield 2 measuring just 330mm; the Rycote fur windjammer; Rycote suspension mount in vibrant red and Rycote XLR holder. 

The DPA 4017-R provides everything an outside broadcaster, journalist or location film maker could need for clear, directional sound, regardless of the weather and environmental conditions, and IBC visitors were being given the opportunity to win one.

DPA was putting its broadcast-specific product range to good use at the show. A journalist was making half-hourly broadcasts from the stand using a range of DPA broadcast mics including the 4017-R and the 4080 miniature cardioid lavalier to present the DPA News. 

 DPA 5100 Mobile Surround MicrophoneRegular surround sound playbacks recorded using DPA’s surround products were also being featured at IBC. The playbacks captures excerpts of classical and pop concerts, football matches, movie clips and Maserati recordings. These have been made using DPA’s S5 and D3 mounts, together with the newly-introduced DPA 5100 mobile surround sound microphone geared towards the broadcast market. Small, compact and robust; easy to transport and set up, the 5100 has a rugged construction to withstand weather and environmental conditions. At the same time, the system effortlessly conveys the ambience and space of outdoor and indoor events held at sporting arenas and venues, on live shoots etc.

Other DPA surround products included the carefully-matched 5006, 5015 and 5006-11 surround kits, consisting of five 4006-TL transformerless omnidirectional mics (DPA 5006), five 4015-TL transformerless wide cardioid mics (DPA 5015) and three 4006-TL with two 4011-TL cardioid microphones (5006-11), together with accessories such as acoustic pressure equalisers and shock mounts.
