Dane To Be Different

DPA Founder, Morten Støve, talks to Audio Media about the plans to bring DPA's message of quality to the stage and to the (HD) screen
Morten Støve, Founder and Director of Business DevelopmentSince DPA’s beginnings it has built its reputation on sheer quality – a range of microphones that has broken new ground in quality, application, and innovation. Now, with expanded production capability and a precision tool shop since merging with Muphone three years ago, the company is setting its sights on the future. Morten Støve is one of the architects of the company’s success, and he agreed to talk to Audio Media about what that future holds.

Morten Støve: "We want to give musicians an extension of their instrument – a good microphone. If people have a good instrument, they definitely have to look at the microphone as its extension.

So, we have to make something that would be stable onstage. Something that can handle good sound pressure levels in front of a monitor – mics that would fit on stage – and something that would make it easy for people to handle... something that is rugged, something that you can mount onto the instrument with one hand.

We’ve stepped up to the plate and said, ‘we’re going to do this big-time, we’re going to put money into it, and make something that’s really, really nice."
