DPA MICROPHONES DELIVERS ROCK SOLID, RELIABLE RESULTS FOR SOUND ENGINEER LALO SANDOVAL

d:vote™ Instrument Microphones, d:dicate™ 2011C and d:facto™ Vocal Microphones keep Mexican recording artist Alejandro Fernandez front and center.
For the past 28 years, Eduardo “Lalo” Sandoval has worked tirelessly to solidify his reputation as one of Mexico’s best sound engineers. Working primarily on monitors, Sandoval has spent over 13 years with the Mexican pop band, Mana. He also has worked extensively with Marco Antonio Solis, and has spent the past 15 years with Mexican superstar Alejandro Fernandez. In order to deliver dynamic, pristine sound that his clients have come to expect, Sandoval relies on a selection of microphones from DPA.

“In all my years, I had never heard a top and bottom snare with a sound that is so powerful and clear,” adds Sandoval. “The sound we get using DPA on percussion is incredibly natural. DPA mics totally exceed the sound we were looking for with various instruments, including the violin, brass section, bongos, congas, snare and drum kits. For the new Alejandro Fernandez tour, we purchased all DPA mics for the vocalists, as well as the entire band. DPA is an incredible company with great products and has been a game changer for me.”

Sandoval has been a DPA user since 1991 when he purchased his first d:dicate™ 4007 Omnidirectional Microphone. Today, Sandoval’s DPA inventory has grown to include d:vote™ Instrument Microphones, d:dicate™ Recording Microphones and d:facto™ Vocal Microphones.

“DPA capsules speak for themselves,” says Sandoval. “The moment you use them in a live show with a large orchestra that includes drums, percussion, violins, trumpets and saxophones you get instant and amazing results. With complete clarity and minimal off axis contamination, you realize that the sounds are so natural that there is little to no EQ’ing necessary. Using DPA mics, you are able to obtain sounds that were not possible before.
