What is "Doppler Effect "?

Doppler Effect (Doppler Shift)

The apparent upward shift in frequency of a sound as a noise source approaches the listener or the apparent downward shift when the noise source recedes. This can be experienced when a speeding ambulance passes by.

This phenomenon is named after Austrian physicist Christian Doppler, who described the phenomenon in 1842.
