What is "Free Field"?

Free Field

A sound field in an environment in which the sound can freely propagate and in which there are no reflective surfaces of size that affect the frequency region of interest. The sound is regarded as isotropic and homogenous.

It is most common to measure the sensitivity of microphones in the free field as a primary choice.
