DOWNBEAT REVIEWS d:vote™ CORE 4099

dpa-downbeat.jpg
Downbeat's Ed Enright test drove d:vote™ CORE 4099 on a range of saxophones on a gig and loved what he heard.
"I blew one note, and the natural big, round sound of my vintage saxophone came singing through crystal-clear, totally free of breakup and with no noticable coloration. The amplified sound was wide open - as opposed to the muffled or brittle sound you sometimes get with clip-on miniature mics - and a huge range of dynamics was available to me. Once the gig began, I discovered I could be heard with excellent clarity at lower volume levels, something that should work to the advantage of any horn player whose tone and chops have suffered from overblowiong on loud stages. When it came to change horns, I could easily transfer the mic to my tenor, alto and soprano saxophones, as well as bass clarinet."
