Discover how the F1 sound team turned a real Grand Prix into a cinematic experience.
Director Joseph Kosinski and his team worked directly with the Formula One Media & Broadcast Center during the 2023–2024 season, integrating their recording equipment into Formula 1’s broadcast pipeline, including DPA Microphones placed on cars and around the track.
The result: access to 4K footage from more than 20 trackside cameras and uncompressed audio from nearly 100 microphones surrounding the circuit.
Described as “a marriage of a big-scale Hollywood movie with the pinnacle of live sports broadcasting,” the collaboration aimed to place audiences inside the cockpit and make them feel the force of real race speed.
