Mission: Impossible: Capturing sound 10 meters underwater

From a sealed, pressurized mask 10 meters below the surface to the final cinematic mix, the Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning sound team faced one of their most extreme recording challenges yet.

In Ep62 of the AMPS Podcast, they share how a 3 mm DPA 6061 Subminiature Mic became part of a custom solution hidden inside the underwater mask capturing breath, struggle and performance detail that ultimately made it into the final film with minimal ADR.
