Making your vocals sound fantastic

Voice is probably the most recognizable sound source of all. We can easily detect whether it sounds authentic or not.

You need a very good microphone and playback chain to make a vocal performance sound similar to what we hear naturally. Not only is the recognizable quality a concern, but other special phenomena occur around the human voice that calls for special attention when selecting the right microphone for the job.

Handheld mic for the live stage

The d:facto™ Vocal Microphone is engineered especially for vocal performances onstage. It captures electrifying stage acts and accurately replicates a singer's voice transparently, consistently and thrillingly. The mic is optimized for use in sound reinforcement as well as recording applications. It offers natural sound and high separation from nearby sound sources.

The 2028 Vocal Microphone is designed for the unique challenges of live stage performances. It is a flexible handheld vocal mic, which provides transparent, fantastic vocals to performers from a wide range of markets including live, HoW, broadcast, etc. In fact, it needs no (or very little) EQ to sound just like you are standing next to the singer listening to their performance. This allows the singer to use their voice just as if no mic was present, which puts less strain on them. In addition, it allows sound engineers to spend their time shaping the sound experience rather than covering up due to artifacts. This amazing transparency is unique for DPA vocal mics.

Headsets and earsets for musicals

Our headset microphones offers accurate, natural voice intelligibility and very high SPL capabilities. Users can both speak and sing into the mic with no hint of distortion. The microphone capsule is also optimized for low distortion as well as humidity resistance. Available in a wide range of variants, including capsule type, mounting systems, boom lengths and colors.

Floor standing mics for classical singers

Classically-trained opera singers are used to using their voice to fill up the hall. These singers can sing at extremely high SPL, which can cause distortion.

Additionally, the right amount of "air" between the singer and the microphone is essential to give it a classical sound, so close miking, which is also done for other music genres cannot be used here. Recording these singers in concert is often done using elegant floor-standing microphones, which have the correct audio quality as well as visual impact for the performance. To meet these specific needs, you should choose one of our floor stand microphones.

Available in either a cardioid or a supercardioid variant, these mics are our best solution for the highest-quality sound capture in both recording and live performance situations. Both variants are widely customizable; available in a range of boom lengths to meet any need.

Vocals, Handheld Mic on Stage

When choosing a microphone for a vocal performance, audio technicians have a tendency to simply do exactly what they have seen on stages for years.

Ask a child to draw a microphone and it will most likely be the legendary ice cream cone shape, well established by brands such as Shure. This is apparently what a vocal microphone should look like.

Why is this so?

Vocals, Head-Worn Vocal and Speech Mics on Stage

Auditoriums, churches, educational facilities, conference rooms, courtrooms and theaters are all places where one or more people speak to an audience.

If that speaker is untrained, and/or doesn’t know to speak up in a clear and articulate manner, this can be an issue. Moreover, the speaker may not use a handheld microphone. Or, he may employ a lavalier microphone, which can cause severe level changes when the speaker turns his head while talking. The best way to address this challenge is to use a head-worn microphone.
