I started in television at 17 years old in 1983 as a sound assistant working in film at a local newsroom. In my 38 years as a field sound recordist I have been fortunate enough to have travelled the globe working on documentaries, long form current affairs, wildlife, travel and human interest programs, from US elections to Leatherback turtle hatchings in Costa Rica to conflict zones around the world.
Career highlights
Working as a field sound recordist has given me the opportunity to cover stories in remote and challenging locations such as Gurkha Selection in Nepal, to Australian First Nation stories and Polar Bears in the Arctic.
Favorite DPA Microphones
Of all the DPA mics I use, the 4017C is my all round favourite.
