Near-Coincident

Stereo microphone configurations where the distance between the microphones is relatively small, normally regarded as such up to approximately 17 cm (6.7 in). This includes setups as ORTF, NOS, etc.

By using directional microphones, the comb filtering is normally regarded as negligible when combining the signals to mono.
