AUDIOFANZINE REVIEWS THE 4055 KICK DRUM MICROPHONE

The leading online audio magazine in France, Audiofanzine, takes the 4055 kick drum microphone to the test lab.
"We compared it (4055) with our faithful Electro-voice RE20 and BeyerDynamic M88 in particular, which are the microphones that we use the most in this role.

(...) We start by placing them both (4055 and RE20) outside the bass drum, a few centimeters from the skin, taking care to keep the same axis as much as possible, and ensure that the preamps of the two microphones are set to have comparable input signals and without any processing.

We quickly realize that the 4055 reveals bass that goes down very low, much lower than with our RE20.
The sound is deep, but still retains a very interesting color in the high mids and highs.

You can hear the sensitivity of the condenser microphone taking shape, and the details of the sound of the skin are precise and snappy.

The low mids, which can sometimes be a bit overwhelming when recording bass drums, seem to be lessened, naturally cleaned up."

The overall score for 4055 was 9/10, which also earned an Audiofanzine 'Valuer Sûre 2022' award.

The review is in French, but Google Translate seems to be doing a fairly good job in case you're not fluent in French.
