When Munoz decided to make the switch to the
d:facto™, he had one very important person to convince. “Nasri Atweh, the lead singer of Magic! and I have a great relationship,” adds Munoz. “We have been working together long enough for him to trust me, so when I told him I wanted to change to the d:facto™, he was skeptical at first, but trusting of me. Nasri is a huge Stevie Wonder fan and I was able to show him a picture of Stevie singing with the d:facto™, which helped add credibility to my decision to use the mic. Nasri listened to the mic during sound check and was blown away. He loved the sound and wanted to give me his credit card to buy it right away.”
In addition to its unrivaled sound, Munoz also likes DPA for its dependable performance. “DPA has proven to be a very reliable brand,” says Munoz. “With Magic!, we mostly fly to our shows (as opposed to bus runs and trucks), so our biggest challenge is that we are physically carrying equipment. We need to know that the gear we bring is reliable and not going to leave us stranded, especially when it comes to a vocal microphone. The peace of mind I get from DPA is that I know I can rely on the company every time. I plan to use DPA microphones every chance I get and hope to add more of the company’s mics to my inventory as soon as possible.”
